ABOUT US

Sally King, founder and director has been in the industry for over 20 years working with children and adults and is now excited to be expanding in to education and the training of children and young adults for the TV/Film industry. Sally King Casting is a fresh vibrant casting and management agency providing adult and child extra’s, walk on’s and featured artistes to the film television and commercials industries. Sally has worked on many high profile jobs as an agent and casting director including The Theory of Everything, Harry Potter, Aladdin, Downton Abbey, Mamma Mia, Fantastic Beasts 2, and many more!

Head of Acting and Performance, Daniel Leeland, graduated with a 2:1 BA (Hons) degree in Drama from Winchester University, specialising in acting, teaching and theatre in education. Since graduating, he has taught Speech and Drama, as well as Musical Theatre and Acting for TV/Film within schools and part time theatre schools. This has included the LAMDA examination syllabus. He is also an assistant at Sally King Casting and manages Spotlight castings. Most recently he has also been the Acting Coach on the new feature film The Secret Garden.

We started Sally King Performing Arts in order to give those aged 6-18 with an interest in acting for TV/Film a chance to experiment and hone the skills required in our specifically tailored classes. Although we understand the importance of Musical Theatre and Dance, we wanted to create classes that would compliment sessions that your child may already attend in these areas.

Acting on screen requires different skills to acting on stage and our expert tutors will be passing on their knowledge each week to inspire our young actors. This allows our students the opportunity to develop their talents to exceptionally high levels under the guidance of industry professionals.

Each week pupils will learn new skills from acting techniques to attending castings, preparing for a self tape, the rehearsal process and acting on camera. We will also teach the children the etiquette over working on set, using examples from our tutors vast experiences of working with children on film.

Students will also get the chance to experience playing different roles within the film industry such as Director or Camera operator as they experiment with their own TV/Film scripts and make their own filming projects. This will culminate in an end of year screening in which all parents, family and friends are invited to come and see our pupils projects on the big screen.

Each student will also be given the opportunity to register for representation by Sally King Casting. As a member of Sally King Casting, your child will suggested for background and featured roles in Film, TV and commercials on a regular basis. They will also be able to audition for Spotlight representation with us for lead/cast roles.

We believe we have a fresh, fun and engaging approach to teaching, focusing on up to date methodology, providing children with the skills required to attend castings and also preparing them for work in the film industry. On top of this we are able to provide them with opportunities to put these newly learned skills into practice.

At Sally King Performing Arts we want to unlock that spark in every child, regardless of whether they want to be the next Brad Pitt or Kate Winslet or whether they want to gain confidence or learn production skills. We tailor our classes to suit the needs of everyone and we believe with our experienced tutors passion and enthusiasm we can provide students with skills that they can use straight away, but also those that they can carry on into later life.
